Mesquite, NV

A couple weeks ago, we decided to have a little weekend getaway in Mesquite, a wide spot in the I-15, about an hour north of Vegas near the Utah border. We weren't looking for adventure, and we were in luck, as there is no adventure to be had in Mesquite.
Wow, look at that swank resort! "Those Latrells must be living the life of Riley" you say to yourself. Actually, this is the hotel across the street from our less-than-stellar digs. The hotel we chose had four very nice swimming pools, all of which, much to our chagrin, they promptly closed down at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday (makes sense, no?). So we were left with no choice but to swim elsewhere, which actually turned out for the best. Melissa voiced a complaint to our hotel and we actually ended up getting our entire weekend stay for free. At those prices, we can't afford not to go to Mesquite.
As usual, the paparazzi hounded us everywhere we went, even in this remote desert location. Poor Melissa could scarcely enjoy a trip down the water slide without trying to block the onslaught of flash bulbs.
And we saw goats! This is actually a picture of someone's front yard; a proud owner of five goats. Who knew how richly diverse Mesquite would be? Not us, that's for sure.
